NIXsolutions: TikTok Adds Night Meditations for Teens

TikTok will now interrupt teens’ feeds with meditations after 10 p.m., by default, for all users under 18. This update builds on the platform’s previous end-of-day prompt, which initially included only soothing music and was shown only to teens under 16. With this expansion, the updated prompt will include meditation sessions and will also become available to adult users who enable the “Bedtime” option in the Screen Time settings.

According to TikTok, the meditation feature was tested among younger users, and the results showed that 98 percent of users under 16 kept the feature enabled after the first use. These meditations are meant to encourage healthier nighttime habits and help users wind down at the end of the day. The company aims to reduce screen time late at night, particularly among teenagers, by offering these gentle reminders.

Harder-to-Ignore Prompts Later in the Night

While teens can initially ignore the 10 p.m. reminder, the app will follow up with a second full-screen prompt later in the night, which is designed to be more difficult to dismiss, notes NIXsolutions. This gradual approach is meant to gently guide users away from late-night scrolling, without enforcing a hard cutoff or restricting access to the app.

TikTok’s expanded approach aligns with broader efforts to introduce more wellness-focused features, especially for its younger audience. The inclusion of meditations is one more step in promoting mindfulness and balanced digital habits. Although the feature is currently set to be the default for users under 18, adults who wish to engage in similar end-of-day routines can do so by enabling the option manually.

The rollout reflects TikTok’s ongoing focus on screen time awareness and mental wellness. Whether the addition of meditations will significantly change user behavior remains to be seen, yet we’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.
