NIX Solutions: Facebook Live Videos Will Expire After 30 Days

Meta has updated its policies on storing Facebook Live broadcasts—videos will now be deleted after 30 days. Starting February 19, users must manually upload their videos to prevent automatic deletion.

Changes to Live Video Storage

Users can still share their videos to their Reels profile, but the videos must comply with Instagram’s 90-second limit. Meta justified the update by stating that “the majority of live broadcast views occur within the first few weeks of a live broadcast” and that the change helps align retention policies with industry standards.

Additionally, all previously recorded live videos older than 30 days will be deleted. Users will receive notifications via email and in-app alerts before their archives are permanently removed. Once notified, they will have 90 days to download or transfer their videos before deletion occurs in stages over several months.

How to Save Your Live Videos

Facebook provides tools to help users download their videos, adds NIX Solutions. They can either save them individually or request a bulk download of all videos from specific dates. Alternatively, they can transfer their content directly to cloud services like Dropbox or Google Drive.
