Features, Delays, and Release Dates
According to Bloomberg, one of the key changes in iOS 19 will be an updated version of Siri that will be powered by advanced big language models. Interactions with the updated Siri will feel more like interactions with a real person, making Apple’s virtual assistant similar to other platforms like ChatGPT and Google Gemini. In addition, Siri will have more capabilities in working with third-party applications.
iOS 18 includes Siri integration with ChatGPT as part of Apple Intelligence features. However, with iOS 19, Apple’s goal is to build the platform’s features and capabilities directly into its personal assistant while maintaining maximum privacy and security for users. Apple is expected to announce Siri with big language models as part of the iOS 19 update, but the system will not be available until 2026. The features will likely arrive in an additional update, such as iOS 19.4.
Meanwhile, the company is scheduled to announce the iOS 19 update in June, but is still working on iOS 18 features that have not yet been released. Several of the most impressive Apple Intelligence features announced as part of iOS 18 are still not available and are not scheduled to arrive until iOS 18.4 in March. According to Bloomberg, this means many of the new iOS 19 features will definitely be delayed until spring 2026. The company’s engineers are currently busy finalizing iOS 18 features, even though they are scheduled to be working on the next system update.
As a result, iOS 19 will not have some key features immediately after its release in September. The features will become available gradually in additional updates like iOS 19.1, iOS 19.2, iOS 19.3, and iOS 19.4, adds NIX Solutions.
iOS 19 is expected to be announced at WWDC in June, after which the beta testing phase for developers will begin. The public beta version of iOS 19 will most likely be released in July, with the public release expected in September.
