Nick Pickles, head of government affairs at X, announced his departure this week after more than a decade with the company, formerly known as Twitter before its acquisition by Elon Musk.
Pickles, who joined the organization in 2014, stated that he had made the decision to leave several months ago. He also confirmed that he had worked through the transition with X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino.
“After 10 years, tomorrow will be my last day at X. It’s been an incredible journey,” a source quoted Pickles as saying. However, he did not disclose his future plans or provide reasons for his departure. Both company officials and Pickles himself have declined to comment further.
Career at X and Global Representation
Pickles began his career at X as a senior manager in the company’s London office. In 2023, he was promoted to the role of head of government affairs and later took on multiple positions within the organization. According to sources, Pickles represented the company in various disputes with governments worldwide, including Brazil, where the platform was recently suspended for users.
Internal Changes at X and Pickles’ Role
In June of this year, X’s head of business operations and communications, Joe Benarroch, left amid reported tensions with Elon Musk over demands for increased revenue and reduced spending, reminds NIXSolutions. After Benarroch’s departure, Pickles assumed his responsibilities in addition to his own.
With this latest change, it’s unclear who will take over Pickles’ role, but we’ll keep you updated on any developments regarding his replacement or future career moves.
