The Google Photos app now offers powerful tools to manage the people captured in your photo gallery. You don’t have to delete photos to keep certain individuals out of sight – the app provides settings to reduce or eliminate their presence entirely.
Disappearing Act: Hiding Unwanted Faces
As Google explains on the app’s support page, you can now “cancel” a specific person from appearing in your “Memories” gallery. This can be done using the “Show Less” or “Block Face” options. The “Show Less” feature will completely remove the person from the collection, while “Block Face” will stop showing individual portrait shots, though the person may still appear in group photos.
Precision Curation: Selective Date Hiding
To further refine your photo gallery, the app allows you to hide photos taken on specific dates or during certain time periods. This “Hide Dates” setting can be used in conjunction with the people-focused options to create a truly customized photo experience.
While the new features are a welcome addition, Google notes that the functionality is not yet perfect, adds NIX Solutions. The company will continue to refine the tools and we’ll keep you updated on any improvements or expansions.
The ability to selectively “remember” and “forget” people in your Google Photos gallery gives you greater control over your cherished memories. Whether you want to discreetly remove an ex-partner or shield your children’s privacy, these new settings empower you to curate your photo collection with precision. As the technology evolves, we look forward to seeing how Google Photos continues to adapt to users’ needs and preferences.
