NIX Solutions: Threads Gains Momentum Over Bluesky

The social network Bluesky has gained attention and attracted a notable number of users, especially following the recent U.S. presidential election. However, its competitor, Threads, owned by Meta Platforms, has achieved even more significant growth. Over the past two weeks, Threads has welcomed 15 million new users, according to Adam Mosseri, the head of Threads and Instagram.

NIX Solutions

“It’s been a great couple of weeks for Threads. In November alone, we signed up over 15 million users, and for three months now, we’ve been adding more than 1 million users per day. We know we have a lot of work to do, and our teams are working hard to give the community what it needs,” Mosseri stated.

Rapid Growth Backed by Data

AppFigures data supports Mosseri’s claims, showing 4.8 million downloads of the Threads app for iOS and 8.2 million for Android in the last two weeks. This adds up to over 13 million new users, not counting those who signed up via a desktop browser. The largest increases in users came from the United States, Brazil, and India.

Currently, Threads does not host ads, unlike platforms such as X and Instagram. However, monetization is on the horizon. Instagram’s marketing team is reportedly exploring advertising options for Threads, with implementation potentially beginning as early as January next year.

Competition and Future Outlook

After the U.S. presidential election, X experienced a loss of about 115,000 users, many of whom migrated to platforms like Threads and Bluesky, reminds NIX Solutions. Yet, this did not significantly impact X’s user base, which still boasts 36.7 million daily users. In comparison, Threads has 4.7 million daily users, while Bluesky has just over 1 million. It’s worth noting that some of X’s numbers may include bots.

With Threads continuing its rapid growth and plans for monetization underway, the platform is poised to expand its reach further. We’ll keep you updated as Threads introduces new features and monetization strategies.
